Royal Wedding Update

So the news for the Royal Wedding has been slowing down now that the date is getting closer, but there are still some items to update on... One is that tea towels are now on the list of royal merchandise to be sold for memorabilia. This was not the case about a month ago, Buckingham Palace did not believe that tea towels were not "significant and permanent," but they have had a change of heart. Though the towels are back on the list, they are not going to look like the tea towels have in the past, instead of having the outline of the royal couple, they are just going to have their initials embroidered on the towels.
Something else that has been in the news lately is that Prince William and Kate have requested that they not receive gifts for their wedding. With the exception of close family and friends they are requesting that money be donated by the attendees to chartities that they have chosen. This still has to be approved by the appropriate people, but I for one think that it is a great idea. The beautiful couple has said that have everything that they need, so instead of gifts, they want to give to others.
As of January 19, 2011 there were 100 days until the couple says their "I do's", to some that may seem like a long time, but to the people coordinating and planning the event it is a very short time to make sure that everything is order. Planning an event of this magnatude is going to be stressful, there are so many people that you must go through to get the job done. From approval of the Queen and Buckinghma Palace and then what the couple who is actually getting married wants can get complicated. Being an event planner involved in this wedding is for sure an experience of a life time, it is the dream of event planners everywhere.

Advertisments for the Royal Engagement Ring

Has anyone else seen the advertisements for getting a replica of the royal engagement ring? There are so many now... ads in magazines, on TV, and the Internet. I don't know about you, but I want one! I think that it is a great way to get involved in the whole excitement of the royal wedding. Though, I do think it is being taken a little to far. I mean you can get the ring for only $20, that makes me wonder what kind of quality it is going to be and if it will even be pretty? If anyone has already gotten one, let me know!

Other news is that the media is comparing Kate Middleton style to the late Princess Diana's. They show that both lovely ladies wore blue to announce their engagements. The media is talking about how Kate is like Diana, and it is showing that Prince William has great choice in women.

More on the wedding details and the happy couple later!

Randomness about the Royal Wedding

As a hospitality student who is intending on becoming an event/wedding planner later in life, following the royal wedding is not just exciting to me it is part of my homework. This is going to be an amazing event that the entire world will tune in to, but for those that are wanting to become part of the weddings industry this is research. The venue, the dress, the traditions that will be followed are all under the microscope. It is great that Prince William chose to have the wedding in Westminster Abbey and not St. Paul's Cathedral where his parents were married in 1981. Westminster Abbey is where Queen Elizabeth II was married and where her coronation took place, it is also where many royals are laid to rest, in fact that is where Princess Diana's funeral was.
It is wonderful to see that this not only something for the couple to plan but the entire country will participate. This is going to made a national holiday because that is how important it truly is. It is said that the wedding dress will be designed by a British dress maker, but no one has been chosen just yet. All of the memorabilia will be designed and sold from local people. I truly believe that the country will accept Catherine as their new Princess and some day as their Queen, she is in fact one of them.
There is still a lot of information that is going around since they officially announced their engagement, but it is all kind of the same thing. I am waiting for the new information, such as what type of memorabilia will be made for the joyous occasion. So far the only thing that has been said is that tea towels will not be part of the official memorbilia.
This may have been a random post, but the next one will be better. I will try to find some good pictures for you all.

Interesting Tid Bit on the Royal Wedding

The royal wedding between Prince Willam and Kate Middleton is definetly going to be the event of the year. The entire world will be tuning to watch this event. It has already been assumed that tradition will be followed for this wedding, especially since Prince William wants to make his mother a part of the event, even if it is a spirit presence. One way he has done this is Kate's engagement ring is the same engagement ring that Princess Diana had, a 18-carat blue sapphire that is surrounded by diamonds. There are many other things that this couple will be doing to preserve Princess Diana's memory in this wedding, it will be exciting to see how they work it in to their special day, along with everything else that will be done. I am excited to watch as this event comes together since I want to plan big events some day.
